I am soooo excited to blog this little project!
You know those jeans stuffed at the back of your cupboard, that were once cool, yes, those baggy bootlegs. The ones that still look good around your rear and still buttons up nicely by the waistline, YAY, but the bootlegs are no longer doing it for you. Yes, the ones you keep meaning to donate, but can’t seem to let go of! Yes, those jeans! I am here to show you how to transform those babies!
I so wish I had thought about this before doing a serious clean out and donating half my wardrobe a few months ago 😦
I hope this reaches you in time to salvage those once favourite bootylicious jeans of yours!
Due to the fact that I gave away all my old baggy jeans, I don’t have any that are overly baggy, but I have a few that don’t look right and just look ‘messy’.
These jeans are my ‘hanging around home’ jeans so I thought I would try this little experiment out on them, I must say, I quite like the way they turned out.
So, here goes, this is what they look like on.
“Hello there Rusty”, my ginger cat hovering in the background.
Now put them on inside out and take in the sides, pinning them in from the outer part of the leg, you only need to take in one leg and use that as a guide to take the other one in.
So it will look like this…
Remove the jeans and get sewing, starting from the bottom, using the pins as a guide. Once stitched up, cut off the excess fabric.
Make sure when stitching it up by the thighs, you bring it in gradually to avoid any bulging in that area. We certainly don’t need any extra bulging to accentuate the outter thigh region, thank you very much!
If you are happy with the fit, stitch over again, just to secure it in place, the last thing you want is to have your jeans rip by your thighs… Eeeeek!
If you need to take in a bit more, just sew it a little tighter. No need to unravel everything.
Fit the jeans the right side on and if you are happy, go ahead with the other leg 🙂
How cool is that, and so quick and easy to do 🙂
Go ahead, go dig out those jeans and give them a makeover!
What a great idea! Thanks for sharing! I’ll be trying this very soon 🙂
